Welcome to the TWH Sisterhood! Tell us a bit about yourself and your business the Modern Day Hippie…

Modern Day Hippie started in 2011 offering busy women wellness solutions. At the time I was working full time with two small children. I created products I wanted that were healthy, nutritious and quick. Modern Day Hippie has since evolved. Not only do we offer girlbosses wellness solutions to seamlessly fit into their lifestyle I also offer healings. The aim of the healings is to allow my clients the deep peace and relaxation they so desperately need.

I am not your typical Hippie. I love alternative health and spirituality is a massive part of my life but I am also a driven business women who loves fashion. I hate following crowds and like to create my own path. After 5 years in business all the pieces are starting to come together.

What challenges have you faced in your career and how have they shaped you as a person today?

Starting a business in an industry I had no experience in meant I needed to do a lot of ground work before I got going. My product idea was copied by a wholesale and distributor company much larger than mine. I realised that to ensure people couldn’t copy my business I had to inject more of my personality into the business as no one is the same as me they can’t be me. I also learnt some lessons which steered me on a different path for the better.

What has been the most rewarding thing that has come from running your own business?

Inspiring women to follow their passion and helping girlbosses to relax and recharge so they can continue to do amazing things in the world.

What is it that you love most about your career?

My healing work is like soul food. It lights me up. My clients are amazing they are so appreciative for my work and I can see a change when they leave. I love being my authentic self and creating solutions to help girlbosses.

Who do you look up to for inspiration?

I love Oprah and Marie Forleo and any strong females that are so boldly being themselves and living a life they love.

What advice would you give to young women who are wanting to start their own business?

Find out your Why. Why do you want to start your own business . When there a hiccups in the road if you don’t have a strong why to get you through you can loose motivation and focus.

Don’t be afraid to try different things at the beginning as it will then allow you to gain more clarity on exactly the direction you want.

Life Motto?

For me it is to continue to be bold, fearless and creative. I want to take action on my creative ideas and not think “what if”.

What’s next for the Modern Day Hippie?

We are expanding to have a bigger spa and soul centre offering a variety of amazing wellness and spa solutions.
