Meet Your Grocer: Supporting local Melbourne businesses

I love being able to buy food locally and am a big supporter of small businesses in Melbourne, but I’m often very time poor and find that I can’t always get to my favourite market stores when I want to.

So when Your Grocer reached out to trial their services I was keen to see what it was all about – and I’m SO glad I did! A big selling point for me was that my grocery money would go to local farmers and small business instead of large corporations. I try and do a grocery shop at the market when I get a free weekend, however I find I can only get to the markets and my favourite stores around once a month. With Your Grocer I am able to save time by ordering online and get quality fresh produce delivered right to my door.

When I popped my postcode into the website I was able to choose from a range of businesses to order from. The website is really easy to use and the range of delivery times are really great (you choose the day and a two hour window).

I ordered my groceries online all from the Prahran Market (one of my favourite Melbourne markets!), shops included Ian’s Quality Meats, Pino’s Fine Produce, Arthur’s Quality Poultry, Chapel St Cellars and Piedimontes Supermarket. Delivery from all of these shops combined costs a flat fee of $7.99, Your Grocer also waive the delivery fee on your first order if you are keen to try them out.

Meet Your Grocer: Supporting local Melbourne businesses

I’m totally sold on this concept and will definitely be using this service when I can’t make it to the markets.

My favourite things about this service are:

  • I’m saving time
  • My money goes to local Melbourne businesses and farmers instead of large corporations
  • The delivery driver was great, he carried all of my groceries right to my kitchen bench!
  • The quality of the fruit, vegetables and meat was excellent – as I was expecting from my favourite market stores
